Here is the second part of the "P.S. I Love You" bag tutorial
Seam allowance 0.5” (otherwise stated)
Constructing the bag:
1. Put the outer body shell inside the lining bag right side
together, pin along the top – making sure that the side seams and the bottom of
both the outer body and the lining are all matched up
2. On the front side, mark the positions – 3.5” and 5.5” from
the center of the bag – to make pleat
Making the top band:
Cut 4 pieces of the fabrics (16”x5”) and 4 pieces of
interfacing – to keep the band stay in shape (15”x4”)
Iron the interfacing onto the 2 pieces of fabrics according
to the manufacturer guidelines
4. Place the fabrics right side together, match the raw edges
and pinned along before stitching both sides and clipping the corners
5. Repeat step 4 with another 2 pieces of fabrics that will use
as the lining of the band, add the magnetic snap on this pieces if you like
6. Place the band and the band lining together (right side of
the band onto the wrong side of the band lining) and sew across the bottom raw
edge
Turn the band right side out and iron press
7. Place the band (the side that did not stitch across) on the
top edge of the bag, line up -- pin along as shown in picture, then stitch
across the top of the bag
Then fold down the other side of the band and stitch across
the top
For the handles, I used a read-made handles for this bag.
But if you’d like to make one, here is a great tutorial to make the handles
that would work for this bag. :)
Then, you are done..Congratulations! :)
